Frosty Layout With The Winter Cherry Box

The patterned papers are all wintery blue and gray tones and I wanted to use them all. A way to show off many papers is with a small 1-inch circle punch. Once I had a bunch of circles punched out I started arranging them around the edge of my 12×12 white card stock. I made sure to leave the inside open to hold my photo and title. I used double-sided tape to adhere all my circles to my page.

A new product to play with for me was the Foil Fusion Sheets from Tonic Studios. The silver foil is also included in the kit and it adds so much sparkle to your projects. The foil fusion sheets had snowflakes that I cut out and added around the white areas of my layout for sparkly detail. They go on like a rub-on and then the foil goes on top to leave behind the shine and sparkle. It is a great new product to know about. I added a photo of my daughter and me in blue shirts that matched perfectly with the layout. My title is from an old American Crafts thicker collection that was silver and matched well.

With the patterned papers, I was then able to create a wintery scene with stripes of paper in my art journal. The deer stripe I adhered first and then the winter village above it. The grey wood grain was the base for my whole project. I worked in my 10×10 art journal which is new to me. It is a fun size. To add more to the top I cut out a bunch of snowflakes from another patterned paper. The foil fusion snowflakes I added again to this project. I cannot get enough of those metallic details on my page.

Once my papers were adhered I did a light white wash of white paint to blend all the seems. Since I was leaving a blank area in the middle, it was a perfect spot for a quote. Pinterest always has an easy browsing selection, I typed in ‘silent quotes’. “Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.” worked perfectly for my quiet winter scene in my art journal. A goal for the upcoming year is to work on fun handwriting. My own penmanship was not my best but I tried to make it wavy for some interest.

The winter kit also included a stencil and Nuvo mouse, which I used along the edge of my project. It added a bit more texture to my page and it also added a bit of color. The page is complete. I am still left with plenty of supplies to make more projects soon. I can’t wait to see all the projects crafters make with the Winter Cherry Box.
