Let's Chat (Movies)
I am going to post several chat topics today for the MMC.  There just might be a couple ladies chosen as random participants for a little goody to be sent their way. ;)

This topic is movies.  What movie(s) could you watch over and over?  What movie(s) will you never watch again because it was that distressing?

For me the list I could watch over and over is most of the 80's movies:  Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles (I love Molly Ringwald!), The Goonies, Big, When Harry Met Sally, etc.  Also some classics (and I have watched them over and over ;) ) :  The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, North by Northwest, Charade (pretty much anything with Cary Grant!).

A couple movies I will never watch again are Blue Velvet (it made me hate Dennis Hopper in every subsequent movie), and Cape Fear (it almost made me hate Robert DeNiro!)  Both of them were disturbing.  I will also add in Silence of the Lambs which, although it was suspenseful, was also quite disturbing!

I also love a lot of the 80's stuff,  I can watch some of the chick flicks over and over.  Also love Mrs. Doubtfire.  But there are a few a bit newer too, The Wedding Date, Con Air, Air Force One, are a few of my faves.

Fun topic! I could watch Dirty Dancing over and over again and have since I was a kid! I think I could tell you most of the lines from the movie!!

I didn't really like the taken movies. I don't like those scary movies.

I LOVE 80s movies!!!  And that includes Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, the fun stuff!

Movies I won't touch again is Tommy Boy, Black Sheep (not a fan of Chris Farley) and Pineapple Express and Hot Tub Time Machine.

So I'm guessing you have no patience for "stupid" movies.  lol  I don't even watch them in the first place, unless they have Adam Sandler in them, because I love him, but some of his movies are so pointless and others are great.  :)

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
I too love all of the fun 80's movies. The one I can never get enough of is Dirty Dancing. I am a HUGE Patrick Swayze fan. I miss him a lot Image

I will never watch Marley and Me ever again. I know it is part of life getting a puppy and watching them grow old, but it disturbed me so much when Marley passed. Very good movie, but I just can't bring myself to watch it again.
Mildred - Mom to 2 girls and a husband (I tell people that I am a single mom of 3. Ages 61, 39 and 33) lol. And a proud Grandma to Orahn (8) Sawyer (6) and Mazie (4).

Movies that I can watch over and over- All the Harry Potter movies Image I also love the Bourne movies, The Kingsman, and most of the Marvel movies (Iron Man, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy...)

I can't think of any movie that is too distressful, but I can't stand most "stupid" movies. I can barely sit through them when DF puts them on.

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
I will also agree with 80's movies and Dirty Dancing - I've seen it so many times that I started to notice filming inconsistencies (like wardrobe switching mid scene).  I will also watch any dance/musical over and over.  Oh, and can't forget Princess Bride.

As for movie I will never watch again...  The Birds.  And I will agree on most of the 'stupid' movies.

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
I can watch Disney movies Over and Over Again! No matter what they are..as long as its not Frozen!!!! Of course my favorite is The Little Mermaid. But I really will always choose Cartoons over live action. I also like the Croods and Despicable Me 1 & 2! Live action I can watch are Dolphin Tale (big shock there huh) except I cry every time. Any good comedies like you guys mentioned with Adam Sandler or Jim Carey (the later years, like Liar Liar & Bruce Almighty)

Movies I feel I'm losing brain cells are the really stupid ones like you mentioned. Super Bad or anything in that type of genre! But also, don't hate me for saying it, but I cannot sit through the Harry Potters, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Treks or any of those series. I fall asleep Every Time!

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
I'll always stop for Animal House, The Sure Thing, The Big Chill, any Harry Potter, Argo, any Hunger Games, Remember the Titans, Apollo 13, The Godfather, Goodfellas, and a bunch more.

I've seen a lot of bad movies, most I wouldn't watch again but the only ones I can think of are a selection of Adam Sandler movies (like The Waterboy), Clue, Down Periscope & Sgt Bilko and there's some other dumb movie DH likes to watch that drives me crazy.  None of them were distressing just painful for me to watch.

Another Dirty Dancing movie lover here!!!  I love Sound of Music and it means so much more after visiting Austria where it took place. I really enjoyed the Harry Potter movies too.
I am not a fan of stupid movies or horror movies.  I have had to stay too much by myself and I like to be able to sleep at night.

I forgot about the "never watch again" list...  I never watched Marley and Me because someone told me ahead of time what it was about, and I am glad!  I knew then that I had
no desire to see it!  I saw Titanic in the theaters but would not see it again; too sad!

A few others I'd watch over and over Rocky movies (except 3 - I despise Mr. T) and The Godfather Saga, Legally Blonde

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
OMG, a lot of movies I haven't seen are your "I can watch over and over."  Like I've NEVER seen Dr. Zviago.  Ever.  I love classic movies, and  watch Jaws to the point I know the words (Joey did major in marine biology remember. . . ) - Love Born Free, and pretty much any animal movie.  I love true stories movies, too.
I don't like military movies - oh wait, I love a Few Good Men.  But that's about it.  Just not a fan of John Wayne, nor any cowboys, either.  I'm not a mushy girly girl - but anything that will scare the crap out of me I love.  And I'll watch them again and get scared again.  Image

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
Em I'm with you on the Marvel movies!!  (Seen Ant-Man yet?  It rocks, of course!!)  So, yeah, a lot of sci-fi/fantasy/superhero (but not Batman/Superman) movies.  Some of my favorites are Independence Day, Men in Black, & Harry Potter series.  A lot depends on the actor too - most Will Smith or Kevin Bacon I'd rewatch any time.  Also big 80's girl (love Lost Boys, Flatliners) *but* I've never seen Dirty Dancing, sorry. ;)  Another favorite is My Friend Totoro - if you've never seen it I recommend it no matter what kind of movie you like! (but especially if you like cute animals)

Have never seen Titanic & don't plan to.  Don't like a lot of the 'dumb' comedies (Sandler, Will Ferrell).  As far as being disturbing I wouldn't watch Requiem for a Dream again (it's about drug addicts), and I thought The Piano was just bad!

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
While I detest most television offerings, I love great movies!!!

Hmmm . . . movies I can watch over and over again . . . wow . . . there's a lot and they are all over the map.  Psycho, Mildred Pierce, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, The Graduate, The Haunting (original black and white), The House on Haunted Hill (original black and white), When Harry Met Sally, Batman (1989), Mommie Dearest, Silence of the Lambs (sorry fellow Cherries, sometimes I like being scared!), Grease!

Movies I won't ever watch again . . . Halloween 3 Season of the Witch, Scar Face, any of the God Father movies, any of the Star Wars movies, Pulp Fiction, any Friday The Thirteenth movie.

OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

Re: Let's Chat (Movies)
Interesting. I hardly ever watch a movie a second time, only will if the person with me wants to. It just wouldn't be my choice to see something I've already seen.
