Not Again!

by SandyJaySep 7, 2024
For the Movie Challenge. I got a call from the HS she passed out in class. Severe cramps, dehydration and nausea and vomiting. I took her to ER because I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep fluids or pain pills down her. She got whisked back fast because her BP was low and almost passed out again. Scared the bejesus out of me I have never seen her so white! At any rate, IV fluids, pain medicine and anti-nausea meds had her on the mend, and listening to me saying “how many times have I told you girls to drink more water!??” Some nurse I am. My other daughter passed out in Korea last year, despite my warning. I failed!

Documenting illness is not easy and you did a beautiful job!

Thanks Suzanne. I don’t make her lunch, but I make her lemon-water every day. (She comes home for lunch).

Whew! It's hard to keep up on reminding them to drink water and yourself (at least for me). Your a great nurse!

Love love love your layout. Love all the medical accents and that color block design. I had my son pass out on a school field trip, it was scary so I feel you. Hopefully that is the last time for both of us. Glad she is ok. I agree that it is important to document the difficult stuff too. Thanks for taking the September Movie Challenge :)

Love all the medical accents! Sometimes they have to learn the hard way - hopefully she is drinking her water now.

She is! Thanks for the visit!

Nurse mom here…you made the right call. Maybe try some powdered liquid iv. My son has dysautonomia and we are constantly giving him Gatorade zero…we found the powdered version and it’s much easier to keep on hand.

Thank you for the tip! I will get some of that. Good luck to you and your family.

I knew she would be okay, I knew she just needed fluids, basically, but still scary, yes! Thanks for looking!

Ugh! You can LITERALLY (in this case!!!!) lead a horse to water but can’t make them drink!!! Invest in one of those mega sized Stanley’s - if it’s “cool” maybe she’ll be more inclined to carry it around. Cute doodlebug medical embellies

Whatever it takes, right? I bought lemons, her teacher gave her a sip of his water and it had lemon in it. Now she is drinking! She was embarrassed. Especially since it was the second time this happened. Thank goodness no stitches this time around!

So sorry this happened, how scary for both mom and daughter! Hope she's carrying around a 40-oz. Stanley now, like all the cool kids. And you created a cute layout from the experience!

Thanks Annie Pee, she likes me scrapbooking all her adventures, even this one. It is her story! This is the second time she passed out, she smasher her finger, passed out, cut her head and needed stitches.

My mom used to always say you can lead a horse to water but can’t make them drink…. So true!!! Love your layout! Those colors really pop together!
