Super Star #3--"Been a Rocky Road"
by moodyonceamthJan 15, 2005
Here's my entry for Supah Stah #3...use bottlecaps.

Product List:

Bazzill cardstock (chatterbox collection)

MM rub ons

Lil' Davis Primary Chipboard alphabet

Creative Imaginations "Rustic" bottlecap stickers

Joann's twill

Paper Loft Reality Series "Rocks" paper

MM hinges

Creative Imaginations Impress-on Alphaware

Lil Davis mini red bottle cap

unknown bottlecaps

Doodlebug small black rub-ons

Cardboard and chipboard to mount

Vellum for journaling

I wanted to do something different than just using the bottlecaps as embellishments on a regular page. This page is actually mounted on a thick piece of corrugated cardboard. I then cut a hole in it, added a piece of chipboard to create a new back for the hole, and used flattened bottlecaps as accents for the hidden journaling. On a couple, I did use the Doodlebug Small alpha rub-on's but it was just too tedious so I hand-wrote the rest. They read as follows:

"Tears", "Hugs", "Anger", "Kisses", "Hurt",

"Love", "Frustration", "Understanding".

The journaling reads:

"Daniel...

We have traveled a rocky road for the past few years, haven't we? Since we lived so far apart from each other during our courtship, I don't think we really had a chance to be together enough to see what living with each other was going to be like. We married in August, 1998 and almost split up in the summer of 1999. I am glad that we decided to try again at that time...but even a lot of the time in the years since then has not been very pretty. I don't think we made much effort to change the things that were wrong. Even so, when we almost decided to separate again this past summer, I was devastated. I think it's part stubbornness and part love...but I want to be with you. Somehow, we have come through that dark cloud, and things seem different. The road is somehow clearer. We are actually making a conscientious effort to be better spouses to each other, and to make our marriage stronger. The day-to-day moments are calmer, and our love seems much deeper. I am very thankful that we have come to our senses. I look forward to looking ahead with you.

Yours,

Amy

Sorry the bottlecaps scanned so poorly. I tried about 3 times but couldn't get it to come out any better.

Thanks for looking!

Amy

Pass me a box of Kleenex, girl! I'm sitting here bawling like a baby over your journaling.
I am in AWE of you, doll!

Clever...love the paper you chose!

This is just so neat! I think it was very clever how you used the corrugated board behind and all. Different and an awesome way to showcase the bottle caps.
