When you were fifteen months old, you had to have surgery for an anal fistula. Such a big word for such a tiny bump. But that bump caused you (and us) some grief, so the surgeon decided it was time to take care of it – we watched it for exactly a year. This is you, right before your surgery. You had to wear hospital jammies and you looked adorable. Of course, you clutched your brand new airplane in your little hand. You were amazing and SO BRAVE! I’m so proud of you. I was a nervous wreck during the whole surgery and I was so relieved that I could hold you while you went to sleep and while you woke up. What an amazing little guy. I was glad that you were no longer in pain and I’m pretty sure you won’t remember the whole ordeal. (4/06)
