Simple Pleasures on a Basic Grey Day
by RobbinWoodSep 6, 2006
I know this is a huge departure from my usual bright colored layouts. This design was based on a metal wall sculpture I did in college in the 70's. It took me over a week to complete this layout and get the balance just right. Triangles are a very difficult shape to cut photos into. It has a lot more visual impact in person because of the metallic accent papers and glittered paper...It really looks like metal work.
There is a story behind this layout...Originally made for a big contest in the Spring of 2005...and then after it did not win, I was asked by a publisher to re-make it on a colored background...which I did and it was extremely difficult. It was sent away to the publisher for over a year with the promise that it would be published in a book in 2006. Today I recieved word that the 3 layouts that had chosen for the book will not be published. They have cancelled the entire book. I have included the red re-make so you can see the difference.
I have decided to post my original, which I like better ...even though grey is my most unfavorite color. It was suppose to be symbolic and it just never looked right to me on a red background.
Thanks for looking, Robbin
