Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)
Paper or Digital
Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)
Paper or Digital
Create a Valentine's Day card without using the traditional Valentine themed papers and embellishments. This means no hearts! LOL!

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)
Paper or Digital
If you are like me, you are up to your eyeballs in snow and ice and alot of your photos are of winter things. This month's color challenge is to use "cool colors" in your layout, regardless of the subject of the photos. Cool colors are those that remind us of cool/cold things...blues, purples, and any colors that are primarily blue, such as blue-green, blue-gray, etc. Anything that has more red or yellow than blue is a warm color. There are even cool browns and warm browns. Of course, black and white are neutral and can be used as accents. In my example below, (which are summer photos, by the way) I used blues, blue-greens, and purples. Can't wait to see how "cool" your layouts are!

Digi CT Reveal Challenge - By Janello (Janell)
Paper or Digital
In January the Digi CT revealed some wonderful layouts on different Anniversaries in their life. For the Feb. challenge: make a layout about a special anniversary in your life or someone you love! Here is the Digi CT reveal article for some inspiration: reveal.
Here is the layout by MamaK321 I chose to highlight for the challenge:

Here is mine:

Faithbooking Challenge - By Keling (Sara)
Paper or Digital
Charity/Love
Charity - 1. Benevolence or generosity toward others or toward humanity.2. Indulgence or forbearance in judging others. 3. The theological virtue defined as love directed first toward God but
also toward oneself and one's neighbors as objects of God's love. 4. a kindly attitude towards people
"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14, New American Standard Version
"And now abideth faith, hope and chairty, these three: but the greatest of these is charity." 1 Corinthians 13:13, King James Version
"Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance." St. Francis of Assisi
"Charity begins at home, but should not end there." Proverb
"All things are perceived in the light of charity, and hence under the aspect of beauty; for beauty
is simply reality seen with the eyes of love." Evelyn Underhill
"Christian life consists of faith and charity." Martin Luther

Hybrid Challenge - By Smiley-Scrap8 (Ronny)
Paper AND Digital
Use Digital Elements on a layout or card.
I choose to use elements from the Ocean Blue Collection by Shelle Pukas. The brown circle border, the palm trees, the leaves and the waves were printed on paper or transparency to be added to my page.
Here is my example:

Journaling Challenge - By Mommybruno (Cassandra)
Paper or Digital
We all have them - photos that are off-center, or have too much dead space in them. Are these photos you would normally delete or throw away? Don't! All that empty space is the perfect place to put your journaling! For example, I was looking through some photo albums for a particular picture, and found this one of Xander. I have no idea why it's so completely off-center, because that's not the look I was going for. But look how well all that empty space holds the Christmas Eve poem! I think this gives a nice, clean look to a layout when your journaling is right on the photo. So grab those less-than-perfect photos, or take a new one!, and let's see how you use that extra space!

Let the Music Move You Challenge - By Kimandasmo (Cindy)
Paper or Digital
This month's song was chosen after I saw some pictures I got back after a shopping trip to Target. I knew right away that this was a great song to use. Remeber you can use the title, any lyrics, or just be inspired by the song.
Vogue by Madonna
Strike a pose
Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue
Vogue, vogue, vogue
Look around everywhere you turn is heartache
It's everywhere that you go (look around)
You try everything you can to escape
The pain of life that you know (life that you know)
When all else fails and you long to be
Something better than you are today
I know a place where you can get away
It's called a dance floor, and here's what it's for, so
[Chorus:]
Come on, vogue
Let your body move to the music (move to the music)
Hey, hey, hey
Come on, vogue
Let your body go with the flow (go with the flow)
You know you can do it
All you need is your own imagination
So use it that's what it's for (that's what it's for)
Go inside, for your finest inspiration
Your dreams will open the door (open up the door)
It makes no difference if you're black or white
If you're a boy or a girl
If the music's pumping it will give you new life
You're a superstar, yes, that's what you are, you know it
[chorus, substituting "groove" for "move"]
Beauty's where you find it
Not just where you bump and grind it
Soul is in the musical
That's where I feel so beautiful
Magical, life's a ball
So get up on the dance floor
[chorus]
Vogue, (Vogue)
Beauty's where you find it (move to the music)
Vogue, (Vogue)
Beauty's where you find it (go with the flow)
Greta Garbo, and Monroe
Deitrich and DiMaggio
Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean
On the cover of a magazine
Grace Kelly; Harlow, Jean
Picture of a beauty queen
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire
Ginger Rodgers, dance on air
They had style, they had grace
Rita Hayworth gave good face
Lauren, Katherine, Lana too
Bette Davis, we love you
Ladies with an attitude
Fellows that were in the mood
Don't just stand there, let's get to it
Strike a pose, there's nothing to it
Vogue, vogue
Oooh, you've got to
Let your body move to the music
Oooh, you've got to just
Let your body go with the flow
Oooh, you've got to
Vogue
and here is my example--

Manufacturer Challenge - By 4peasinourpod (Pam)
Paper only
This month I chose a very popular and trendy company: Scenic Route Paper Company. I love their rich colors and their wide variety of products! As you know, I love double sided, heavy patterned paper and cardstock, and theirs is top of the line.
I created a layout of my daughter Kendall and her fourth grade teacher, using the Appleton line. Her teacher, Mrs. Loescher, is amazing, and one of the best teachers around!

Remember to upload your NEW layout or altered project using any line from Scenic Route in the correct gallery before February 28! Good luck!

This month the layout I highlighted is by Mommybruno! You need to chose one element from her layout and create a new layout with it. You can use color scheme, hearts, title etc. I chose to use the three circles from her layout an incorporate them into mine. You need to list what element you chose!

Theme Challenge - By ScrapGoo (Jess)
Paper or Digital
Sweetpea, Honey, Sugar, Cupcake, Baby, or in my case "Goo"... nicknames are a natural expression of our love for each other. This month I want you to scrap about a nickname or term of endearment in honor of Valentine's Day! It cane be *your* nickname or one you've given.
My layout about the term of endearment I have for my DH:

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By katarria (Kathy)
Paper or Digital
Last year I let my scrap magazine subscriptions run out. Instead I hang out in the gallery for ideas, and save a lot of layouts and projects for inspiration when I'm scrapping. This month's challenge comes from an idea I got from RitaS. Rita used alcohol inks and dimensional glaze to alter chipboard flowers on this layout and I knew I wanted to try the same technique! This month's challenge is to use alcohol inks on one of your scrap projects. As an example, I made a thank you card and altered the chipboard letters according to Rita's instructions (see her original layout for details).

About the author ...
Jess began playing with scrap supplies decades ago but has only seriously scrapbooked since 2004. Besides playing with paper she also enjoys baking cupcakes, entertaining at home, traveling abroad, and making French beaded flowers. She has a degree in Theatre with a concentration on Costume Design and remains active in her local theatre scene. Jess lives in Framingham, MA with her husband, Ryan, and three naughty cats.
